Week 8 is in the books, and we are officially half way done with the season! Time to take your wins or loses, put them to the side and focus on week 9 now! But before we do, let’s recap what just went down, shall we?!?!
Let’s start out with our current number 1…
PuttPutt Man vs. Jesus of Fantasy!
Well, this one was a poor performance on both sides, and Brad got lucky on this one, as it was a 115.14 to 101.02 finish line! Which also was the two lowest scores across the whole league, as there wasn’t a single team to finish below 125 points.
Brad took his 6th straight win as Kyle took his 3rd straight loss!! Oh my, how the mighty has fallen!!
Even though this was a low scoring week for both, let’s take a closer look as to why?
Brad…
Missed Mahomes big time here, as he put in Daniel Jones, who granted, was thought to have a big week against Sea, but instead, only put up 9 sad points. On the flip side, he did have the opportunity to play Tua, who put up 35 points, but instead, decided to trade away his new found toy that he picked up only minutes after acquiring on waivers (why was he dropped by the way? And for Robert Woods? Sheeeeesh). But, a win is a win right?!?!
Outside of that, was just not normal for the likes of Olave, 10.20 and Jefferson, 15.80. But, there was one stand out…say it with me you pancake eating MF’ers…ETN!!! ETN!! Yes sir, the cat has been let out of the bag! The horse race has begun, and ETN is officially on his way to stardom, as his first game with the likes of Robinson no longer hovering over him, he went off with a nice score of 27.20 points! Way to get Drew’s keeper from him on that one! Can you say, money?
Kyle…
Rough week for sure, and I know, it’s definitely not the way it was suppose to go down! Josh Allen, back from a bye, put up only 21.62 points, which we know, though good, that’s not a normal Josh Allen stat line. From there, if got worse, as only 3 other players had low double digit points. Sanders, 13.80, Lockett, 15.30 and Myers, 11!
Andrews getting hurt and only putting up 6.30 didn’t help matters. Not to mention, his main WR, Devante Adams, put up and ungodly 1.20 points! Ouch!
As you know, better days are ahead Jesus, but we are all sorry that Brad prayed too hard against you!
Next up…
Paff Daddy vs. The No Name Guy!
Well, the saga continues for Jake the snake! As we’ve said, time and time again, you don’t change your name and your pic, the fantasy gods, frown down upon you! And with that said, Jake loses his 8th straight in a row, leaving him without a single win this year!
At this point, I’m beginning to think everyone hopes he never changes his name, so that all may enjoy a win when they play against him!!
It wasn’t all peaches and cream for ol’ Paff though! He actually had two donuts in this one…Elijah Moore and kicker, Daniel Carlson! That being said, that just means the rest of his crew did pretty well. Chubb, 27.40, Evans 20.30, McLaurin 18.60 and Jeudy 18.30! Thanks for picking up the slack fellas! Lol
For Jake…
Well, he did give it a good try! I mean, let’s not overlook the fact that he had Pollard go off for 35.70 points, and Diggs for 24.80! But, it was the rest of his gang that let him down, as Lawrence, Mostert, Sutton, Gay and his Colts Defense, put up a combined 24 points amongst all 5 of them!! Wow! Sucks to suck! Btw, have you started getting a good taste for waffles yet?
Moving on…
Baby Don vs The Whiffer!!
Ahhhh, the Whiffer came in with his golf club and wacked the crap out of that Baby Don! Usually we would call this, child abuse, but for some reason, this time, we had to just let it go and sit back and watch the beating go down! And it was fuuuunnn!!
Wait, did you just say it was fun to watch someone beat a baby? In this case, a grown man who looks like a baby Donald Trump……yes!
Let’s dig into this matchup a little closer…
Connor…
With no Chase, Burrow came back down to earth and didn’t do much good with his 17.48 points. To make matters worse, Connor dropped Tua, who put up 35 points to try and get himself a “better” WR, but that failed miserably too, as Robert Woods only put up 2.60 points! Ouch, talk about a double whammy!
On the bright side, Kamara, 42.80 and Waddle, 32.60, both balled out, but it just wanted enough to make things happen for the guy!
But seriously…Robert Woods? Someone help this man out…
Drew…
As with most, there were good and bad things that accrued…
The bad…
Pickens laid up a goose egg. And all 3 RBs did ok, but nothing great, with Mixon 12.90, Harris 11.96 and Pierce 14.10, it was a go hum day for those boys.
The good…
Murray went off with 30.64 points! Cooper put up a very respectable 24.10 points!
But, it was Cooper who really help cap things off for Drew Monday night to take the victory from Connor. Winning it 161 to 140.68!
Did you know that when the word “fore” is yelled out, that it’s called out as a warning to people in the path of a golf ball?
Foooorrrrreee!
Whiff!!!
No warning needed for the Whiffer!!
Moving on…
Sam I Am vs. The Big Eagle
Boy was this a close one! Josh escaped with a narrow win to the tune of 162.50 to 156.72! Both sides were holding their breath Monday night, as Josh was done and Sam had Higgins left to go. With the hopes that Higgins was going to put up some serious numbers with Chase being out, it just didn’t happen for him as he came up just 6 points shy! Hey, at least it wasn’t by a fraction Sam, things are looking up!
But, this tale is true in fantasy as it is in real life, with Josh’s Eagles continuing their win streak and Sam’s Raiders just flopping.
Let’s dig in…
Sam just can’t get a break with JT, the once thought to be a sure fire combo with Kupp being his keeper and JT being the number one pick overall, just hasn’t panned out to be the thunder and lightning combo he was looking for! But, there were definitely some bright spots, with Jackson putting up 25.82, Stevenson putting up 21.30 points, Kupp putting up 22.90 and Foreman putting up 33.80, Sam definitely gave Josh a run for his money!!
On the flip side, Josh, as he spreads his arms out and starts flapping like a bird, had some big bright spots himself…Hurts with 36.40, Hopkins’s with 35.90 and Cook with 27.10, those three truly did their part in helping his team, as the rest of them didn’t do to much to mention. With that, Josh sets his eyes back on trying to get in the playoffs! And Sam looks to bounce back to keep himself in it!
Next up…
The mass murder!!
Cheating Brother 1 vs Gregg
This was a throw down, kick you and stomp you into the ground type of battle, as Robert just destroyed Greg to the tune of 196.56 to 146.24! Which, as you guessed it, gives us our Top Dog of the week!
Congrats Robert!
Let’s see what cause him to have such a massive score…
Ahhh yes, CMC!!! It was his real first week as the new lead back of the 49ers and well, he did not disappoint anyone, except Greg! Lol! The dude absolutely went off!! 42.26 points! CMC threw for a TD! Ran for a TD! And caught one for a TD! Holy mother of God!! And with that, Sam now wishes he could do the draft all over again and go CMC at number 1 now! Geez!
Buts that’s not all folks…
Oh no, there’s more…
When CMC parted, DJ Moore came up out of the grave, and gave Robert 29.50 points with a beautiful bomb of a catch at the end of the game! Wow! I don’t care about the penalty it caused after the fact, it was still amazing and the man deserved to celebrate! Take your helmet off anytime you do that DJ! It’s fine by me! Lol
But wait…there’s more…
Dak came back to life and put up 29.40 points!
And when you buy 3, you know you get a fourth one free…Aaron Jones put up 21.70!
Needles to say, Roberts team showed up, and showed up in a big way!
Have I rubbed it in enough yet Gregg?
Lol, I’m sorry. Was just so exciting! Haha! But we haven’t forgot about you, let’s talk about your team…
Greg’s team showed up too, just not to the tune of 196 points is all!
Big play makers to note..
Derrick Henry…37.80 and Tyreek Hill…33.50!
But that was it folks! The rest didn’t do much to go off about it, and with that, Gregg has now lost 2 in a row and has put himself in 9th place, while Robert has now won his last 2 and has moved up to 8th! Congrats you two! Hope it’s not too drafty down there with the winless Jake from State Farm! See if he’ll give you a free quote while you’re down there!
A point worth making as well…If you read most of these columns, you’ll find that whoever plays Gregg typically ends up with Top Dog for the week. Any way we can move this schedule around so I play him weekly??
Alright fellas that’s it for me! Good luck in week 9 and may the force be with you!!
BBY953 2022 Fantasy Football Draft
This is the Godfather league. The start of it all. In 2010, Steve and Brad were working together at Best Buy, store 953, in Asheville, NC. There was interest across the store in getting a fantasy football league started, so Steve took it upon himself to create the league, and organize a draft. Our first 4 years of drafting, took place at Hickory Tavern (remember, if you’re not doing it in person, you’re doing it wrong). They were gracious hosts, always giving us a great location to put up a draft board, and making sure the group was always taken care of with food and drinks.
Since those early years, the group has changed over time. What started off as a league full of Best Buy 953 employees (hence the BBY953 league name), there are now only 4 of us left that have that original link. However, we’ve now built a solid foundation. And a brotherhood. Our current 10 have been together for coming up on 6 years (with the addition of one new person, as we lost one a couple years back due to political talk….Again, go read the first blog post in The Commissioner’s Corner).
This past years draft took place at Timber, an Axe Throwing facility in Hendersonville, NC. This was an absolute blast! They were fantastic hosts, had everything ready to go when we got there. Their instructions and guidance were more than we could have asked for.
The best part was, no one in our league was an expert. We took advantage of that and setup a points bracket that led to a tournament. The tournament let us figure out our draft order for 2023’s draft (always get creative…drawing names each year can get so dull).
If this sounds like what you’ve been looking for, contact us today so we can get started on planning your next Fantasy Football Draft before its too late!
Not only will they put on an incredible event, they're also very knowledgeable on league settings, and have great ideas on how to enhance a league. We now have incentive to not finish last 🙂

Live drafting with everyone was hands down the best experience I've ever had. You went above and beyond any of our expectations!
— Robert
Our third year in a row now using The Draft Xperience for our dynasty league. Each year tops the last. Thank you guys for making the best day of the year even better!
