Before It Starts – Week 7
Ahhh, week 7! The Byes continue! The injuries continue! The waiver wire hunt continues! You know what else continues? The season! Don’t look now, but we are coming up on mid way through the season! Not cool! Not cool at all!
It’s true the saying, “Time flies when you’re having fun!”
Alrighty! Let’s dig into this weeks matchup!!
In this corner…
Looking down, from above, it’s the current number 1 champ! Sitting at 5-1 and holding a putter…it’s
BRRRRRAAAAADDD, The Putt Putt Man!!
And in this corner…
The man who wishes his name would go back to 2 Gs! Sitting at 2-4 and looking deeply into your soul…it’s
GGGGGRRREEEEEGGGG, The Triple G Man!!!
That’s right folks, number 1 vs number 6 here today! And it’s going to be a good one!
Here’s why this is going to be one of the main events you’ll want to watch closely this week!
For starters…both gentlemen, have won Top Dog twice! That’s right, out of 6 possible winnings, these two have taken home 4 of them together! So you know it’s going to be a slug fest to see who could possibly take home yet another one!
Brad will look to keep his reign, but one slip up, and Brad could see himself fall down the board a few spots, as 4 other teams are hoping to see him lose so they can have their shot at taking over that throne!

For Brad…
The Good…
Olave kicked things off for him on Thursday and gave him a nice 19 point lead.
Chase will look to go off again, as he plays ATL!!
The Bad…
The rest of his crew, though good, all face tough matchups and may not perform to standards!
To make matters worse, his lover boy, Jefferson, is on a bye!
For Gregg…
The Good…
All his players have extremely good matchups this week, and if his team clicks on all cylinders, he won’t be stopped!
The Bad…
Still has question marks at QB, but Rodgers does have a favorable matchup against WAS and should bounce back, so really not all that bad if he performs the way he should! Cross your fingers!
The Prediction…
Honestly, I truly love all the matchups Gregg has in place, and think that he beats Brad this week. But, I not only think he beats him because of the great matchups Greg’s have, but I have to point something out…
Connor, our Baby Don, won 4 straight weeks in a row, weeks 1-4, and then lost his 5th week, making his streak come to an end.
Kyle, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, won 4 straight weeks in a row, weeks 2-5, and then lost the following week, making his streak come to an end.
Brad, our current number one champ, has won 4 straight weeks in a row, weeks 3-6.
Do you see a pattern here? No one has yet to win more than 4 weeks in a row, and we’ll, given Gregg’s matchups vs the way Brads looks, I’m thinking that same repeat pattern will go down yet again!

Josh Allen is on a bye, and missing one of his biggest play makers may hurt him enough to lose this week!
It’ll be a fight to the finish on this one! You guys have pretty equal teams this week, and it could go either way for sure!
The Prediction…
I give this win to Jesus, but not in the way you would think! You see, this past week, we not only found out that Connor passed by our hometown without saying hello to any of his boys, but he also went on to say, that we were worth nothing, and that he didn’t care to stop and say hello! For this reason, I hope and pray that Jesus, comes down, shows no mercy, and shows his anger and wrath upon the little baby.

Look at his top 2 RBs and his top 2 WRs and he has himself a solid foundation with Chubb, Fournette, Evans and Deebo.
The Bad…
Look at the rest of his team and it isn’t as pretty! QB situation is rough with not knowing whether to play the old man, who looks like his arm is gone, Brady or the once was thought to be his heir to his thrown in NE, Jimmy G vs a very good matchup against KC!
Not to mention, Ertz took an Ertz on the field and only put up 6 points Thurs night.
Also, the same situation as Brad, where he’s won 4 straight, well, guess what, so has Paff, and given 4 straight seems to be the max, I’m a little nervous.
For Sam…
The Good…
The same goes for him as it did for Steve…strong RBs in Taylor and Stevenson as well as WRs in St. Brown and Higgins!
Unlike Paff, he has no QB issues, as Lamar is ready to pounce on Cleveland.
The Bad…
No Kupp!!
And with Higbee on a bye, he had to rely on Taysom Hill at TE, who put up 10 points to give Sam a little lead way this week.
The Prediction…
I don’t like to bet against myself! But this week has me nervous! Mainly because of the fact that no one has gotten 5 wins in a row! We will see! But, then again, Sam does like to lose by fractions. If I pick the right QB and my main 4 go off, I stand a chance! So, with that said, sorry Sam, Paff takes the win and takes 5 in a row!!! Let’s goooo!!!

Dak, CMC, A Jones, CeeDee, Kirk, Aiyuk, Batman! It truly has the making of something really good! The issue is, Roberts luck has been extremely rough this year. And well, you never know which one of the mix are going to have a good game or a bad one, but he’s never had the chance to see them all fire on all cylinders and see what his team is truly made of!

CMC just got traded to SF, which is awesome news for him, it may mean he doesn’t play or plays very little, which goes hand in hand with Roberts luck!

He’s off to an extremely good start with Eno putting up 23 and Hopkins showing up on his debut with 22! That’s 45 points on the board to keep Robert in the rear view mirror!
The Bad…
Hurts is on a bye!

Allen is questionable and may not start with a bye around the corner.
The Prediction…
Is this the week your luck turns around Robert? Could you take advantage of some of Joshes studs being on a bye? It’s possible….buuuutt…with Eno and Hopkins putting up 45 already on you, I think it might be a tough climb up that mountain! Maybe next week Robert, as I’m giving this one to Josh! Hi Josh, go fly with those Eagles, even on their bye!!

PAST EVENTS
BBY953 2022 Fantasy Football Draft
This is the Godfather league. The start of it all. In 2010, Steve and Brad were working together at Best Buy, store 953, in Asheville, NC. There was interest across the store in getting a fantasy football league started, so Steve took it upon himself to create the league, and organize a draft. Our first 4 years of drafting, took place at Hickory Tavern (remember, if you’re not doing it in person, you’re doing it wrong). They were gracious hosts, always giving us a great location to put up a draft board, and making sure the group was always taken care of with food and drinks.
Since those early years, the group has changed over time. What started off as a league full of Best Buy 953 employees (hence the BBY953 league name), there are now only 4 of us left that have that original link. However, we’ve now built a solid foundation. And a brotherhood. Our current 10 have been together for coming up on 6 years (with the addition of one new person, as we lost one a couple years back due to political talk….Again, go read the first blog post in The Commissioner’s Corner).
This past years draft took place at Timber, an Axe Throwing facility in Hendersonville, NC. This was an absolute blast! They were fantastic hosts, had everything ready to go when we got there. Their instructions and guidance were more than we could have asked for.
The best part was, no one in our league was an expert. We took advantage of that and setup a points bracket that led to a tournament. The tournament let us figure out our draft order for 2023’s draft (always get creative…drawing names each year can get so dull).
