Before It REALLY Starts – Week 4

Before It REALLY Starts – Week 4

February 26, 20248 min read

Well, I have decided to change up the title some, and add in the word, “really!” Why, you might ask? Because I am not able to start this post prior to the Thursday night game. It really doesn’t give it justice to say, Before It Starts, so in this case I will make it, Before It Really Starts, referring to the Sunday games.

Without further ado….

Let’s begin…the current, number 1 team, Baby Don (Connor) vs number 7, The Big Eagle (Josh)!! Baby Don continues his campaign as he sits 3-0 vs his opponents! Can he do it again? Maybe! But The Big Eagle will spread his wings and wont make it easy on Baby Don. No sir, don’t let the 1-2 fool you, as Josh has been averaging 135 points a week, which very well could be enough to take down that baby!!! Let’s dig in…

Baby Don:

The Good…

Joe Burrow put up a decent amount of points on Thursday, with 24.08 points, to give him a good lead start.

The Bad…

Waddle only put up 5.90 points in this one, which could be the deciding factor this week for Connor.

The Big Eagle:

The Good…

He has all 10 players to go, as none of his starters appeared in Thursdays game.

The Bad…

Kennan Allen and David Montgomery have been ruled out and could affect his weekly out come!

My prediction:

Josh gives Baby Don his first lose and the baby will go wee, wee, wee, all the way home!!

Next up…

The two brothers!!

That’s right, it’s the Soy bros at each other! Here’s a question, when y’all fought in real life…ya know, over a toy or who was better looking…Who won? Lol!!

Alright, let’s dig in…

Cheating Bro 1 (Robert) who is 1-2, has struggled this year some to begin with, but made a few moves in free agency and trades that may or may not help him out this week.

The Good…

He has some good receivers in Lamb, Kirk, Batemon and Aiyuk…and not to mention TE, Waller! If all 5 of those guys can go off, he stands a chance!

The Bad…

His most prized piece is questionable and in jeopardy of missing this week…CMC hasn’t lived up to his draft capital this year so far, but if he can play, he has a good matchup against Ari.

Cheating Bro 2 (Sam) who is 2-1, has been crushing it with his Lamar Jackson QB!

The Good..

He just had Higgins go off for 27.40 points, and with that, he’s got a very nice start to his week.

The Bad…

Renfrow is out…but more importantly, one of his biggest contributor this year, St. Brown, is out as well! Because of this, his brother stands a chance of catching him this week.

My prediction:

Robert will take another lose here, and unfortunately, be forced to say…I WOULD NOT LIKE THEM HERE OR THERE.

I WOULD NOT LIKE THEM ANYWHERE.

I DO NOT LIKE GREEN EGGS AND HAM.

I DO NOT LIKE THEM, SAM-I-AM!!

Next up…

Jesus (Kyle) vs. Inspector Earl (Jake)

Well, this is truly Superman vs Doomsday here. Superman, of course, being our Jesus, Kyle, vs the team that is dead last and is 0-3, the doomsday. Eeeee. Sorry Jake.

Let’s dig in…

Kyle, aka Jesus, hasn’t looked back since rising from the dead in week 2, and he looks to continue his rein over Jakes hopeless team.

The Good..

He has one of the best QB in Josh Allen. He has the best TE in Mark Andrews. Between those two alone, you get 50-60 points every week! Need I say any more?

The Bad…

WRs haven’t all been clicking at the same time and his RBs have been average at best. But Ekeler could finally have a good game this week with his matchup against Hou.

Jake, my man, it’s been rough every week for you. Your QB situation can’t seem to turn around for you.

The Good…

(Crickets chirping)

Just kidding…there is one lone bright spot this week…and his name is Stefon Diggs!! The guy does have a plus matchup against Bal and could go off against them!

The Bad…

It’s real bad! Not only did you lose Lance early in the season, but the decision to pick up Fields didn’t help at all, as the guy has been an absolute bust! And it gets worse…play makers that you have had help you, are out. Both Michael Thomas and Swift are ruled out, and with that being said, it’s going to be hard to pull out a win against the strong Jesus team. Chin up Jake, hopefully, better days are ahead. Go get a real QB though buddy!!!!

My prediction:

WWJD…What would Jesus Do? I’ll tell you…he’d go out and make the blind, see again. He’d make the death, hear again. He’d turn water in wine. Turn one fish into hundreds of them! But what about WWJND….What would Jesus Not Do? I can answer that too…and it’s an easy one…He wouldn’t help Jake out. Nope, he wouldn’t lend a helping hand. He wouldn’t lose.

Next up…

The Top Golf Winner vs the Top Golf Whiffer!  Lol, ol’ Bradley, the Putt Putt Man against ol Drew Barrymore!! Though Brad  is 2-1, sits 4th overall, and Drew is 1-2 and sits at 8th…this could be a very close one. Not to mention, Brad only has 17 total points more than Drew does on the season, so that goes to show you, that if Drew wins, and wins by more than 17 points this week, it could easily be a flip flop in standings!!

Let’s dig in…

Drew, the whiffer, the BBQ man, the brother in law, the man with too many names….has got a good team on his hands. Very well balanced in every area!

The Good…

Zero injuries. Got to love a full, heathy squad going into week 4! And let’s not forget, Mixon got his first TD on the season and put up 17 points to get your team up in the right direction for you this week!

The Bad…

Got nothing bad to say honestly, lookin good in the neighborhood!!

Brad, has a very strong team too. But some tough matchups for his players could be what helps Drew take the win this week.

The Good…

You have Chase and Jefferson!!!

The Bad…

You have Chase and Jefferson!! It’s like rolling dice with these two now days! And well, Chase has already started the week out on a poor note for you with only 12 points. Come on man!!!

My prediction:

If Jefferson puts a dud again this week, Drew wins this one. If Jefferson shows up and puts up 25 or more points, Brad wins it. Yep, it all comes down to that man for you…as he will help make or break you!!

Next up…

Paff Daddy vs Double G Man!!

Number 5 vs number 6! Going to be a good match! And who wins this one, well, it’s anyone’s game, but I’ll wait on my prediction for the end.

Let’s dig in…

Gregg, who, once was called, The Cheating Brother 3, has started to lose his name in favor of The double G man, because we just like the way his name looks with two g’s at the end…Gregg! Not to mention, who doesn’t like the word, “egg” in their name? Haha!

The Good…

Flipping Tyreek Hill went off for 27.90 points this past Thursday and set himself up for a very good start to the week! Not to mention, the other very good stud WRs he has in Pittman, Garrett Wilson and Marquise Brown!! Not going to lie, I’m a little nervous!!

The Bad…

Both your starting RBs, Henry and Zeke, have tough matchups and could be the weakest link to your crew this week, but if that’s the only bad, you know your in the good!!

Paff Daddy. (In the voice of Mario) That’s a me!!! Gets to have a hay day this week. With the way things look and have unfolded already for Gregg this week, I went out and did a little changing up, with some waiver adds and trades. I made a move that will make or break me this week, with the addition of Tom Brady, I’m hoping that the past is in the past, and that the Goat, comes back this week! He does have a plus matchup against the Chiefs, and with the possible additions of having Godwin back, he could be in line for a great day!

The Good…

I feel like I have the makings of an all star crew in my RBs Chubb, Fournette, and Herbert with a plus matchup after putting up 30 plus points last week! And my WRs, Evans, Deebo and London all have good matchups as well!

The Bad…

If Tom Brady puts up his normal 12 point week, I’m done for!!

My prediction:

Even if I’m wrong, I don’t bet against myself…so regardless of how things look on paper, I always root for the Commish, the GCOAT, the Paff Daddy!!!

Well, that’s it for me….good luck to everyone and I’ll see you on the other side!!!

BBY953 2022 Fantasy Football Draft

This is the Godfather league. The start of it all. In 2010, Steve and Brad were working together at Best Buy, store 953, in Asheville, NC. There was interest across the store in getting a fantasy football league started, so Steve took it upon himself to create the league, and organize a draft. Our first 4 years of drafting, took place at Hickory Tavern (remember, if you’re not doing it in person, you’re doing it wrong). They were gracious hosts, always giving us a great location to put up a draft board, and making sure the group was always taken care of with food and drinks.

Since those early years, the group has changed over time. What started off as a league full of Best Buy 953 employees (hence the BBY953 league name), there are now only 4 of us left that have that original link. However, we’ve now built a solid foundation. And a brotherhood. Our current 10 have been together for coming up on 6 years (with the addition of one new person, as we lost one a couple years back due to political talk….Again, go read the first blog post in The Commissioner’s Corner).

This past years draft took place at Timber, an Axe Throwing facility in Hendersonville, NC. This was an absolute blast! They were fantastic hosts, had everything ready to go when we got there. Their instructions and guidance were more than we could have asked for.

The best part was, no one in our league was an expert. We took advantage of that and setup a points bracket that led to a tournament. The tournament let us figure out our draft order for 2023’s draft (always get creative…drawing names each year can get so dull).

If this sounds like what you’ve been looking for, contact us today so we can get started on planning your next Fantasy Football Draft before its too late!

WHAT THEY'RE SAYING

Not only will they put on an incredible event, they're also very knowledgeable on league settings, and have great ideas on how to enhance a league. We now have incentive to not finish last 🙂

Connor

Live drafting with everyone was hands down the best experience I've ever had. You went above and beyond any of our expectations!
